In this quick guide, let me show you how you can access Windows programs remotely without issues.

Use Remote Desktop Connection

Remote Desktop Connection is a Windows tool that allows you to access a host computer remotely. Once the host computer runs on a Windows Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate version, is powered on, and is connected to the same network, you can remotely access Windows programs.

The steps below show how to use Remote Desktop Connection on Windows 11.

Step 1

Open Settings and navigate to System > Remote Desktop.

Toggle the switch to enable Remote Desktop.

Check the box “Require computers to use Network Level Authentication (NLA) to connect.”

Step 2

Open the Control Panel and ensure it is in Category.

Click on System and Security.

Click on Allow an app through Windows Firewall.

Click on Change Settings

Scroll down to Remote Desktop and tick the box for Private and Public

Step 3

Launch the Command Prompt as an administrator.

Enter the command ipconfig and note the IPv4 Address.

Step 4

Launch the Remote Desktop Connection app.

Type the copied IPv4 address of the host computer.

Click on the Show Option to tick the Allow me to save credentials box.

Click Connect.

Enter the host computer’s username and password.

Check the Remember Me box and click OK.

If you receive a message saying the remote computer’s identity is not verifiable, check the box “Don’t ask me again for connections to this computer” and click Yes.

You should be able to connect to the computer remotely. You can also adjust the display and audio settings on the Remote Desktop Connection App.
